I raised two pet rabbits and then used their bunnies to make rabbit stew?

Was what I did in any way unlawfull or morally wrong? I feel guilty because when I took the bunnies away from the mother rabbit she was extremely defensive and let of a high pitched yell I�ve never heard before. I just wanted to farm my own food instead of buying it from the shop.
