The great gatsby question?

Nick appears to be the most successful because he is writing the book after the events have happened and thus he has survived the later events and he lives to tell the story. We know from the beginning that Tom and Daisy are not successful in the true sense of the word, because they obviously do not have trust and happiness, which is a huge part of success. Gatsby is still too vague as a character to be termed successful.
