Which Marion Zimmer Bradley book first?

I really want to start reading Marion Zimmer Bradley's Avalon series but I don't know where to begin. I know Mists of Avalon was written first but other books seem to be prequels. Can anyone recommend the best order to read the books in? Thanks!
